Article 1 (Purpose and scope)
These terms set out the rights, obligations, and responsibilities of the Company and of users in relation to the Mintdesk Gateway service ("the Service").
They apply to anyone who creates a gateway account or pays for the Service. If you only use the Mintdesk app on the same network or over a VPN you configured yourself, no account is required and Article 4 applies.
Matters not covered here are governed by the Refund and Cancellation Policy, the Privacy Policy, and applicable law. Those two documents form part of these terms.
Article 2 (Definitions)
- App
- The Mintdesk application you install on your Mac. It acts as a Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) server.
- Gateway
- The relay server operated by the Company. It forwards encrypted traffic between the connecting device and your Mac; it does not generate or store the remote screen.
- Agent
- A component of the app that keeps an outbound connection to the gateway and, when asked, connects only to its own
127.0.0.1remote desktop port. - Device
- One Mac registered to an account, with a name unique within that account (
[a-z0-9-], 1–32 characters). - Gateway credential
- One username and random password issued per account, used by the remote desktop client to authenticate to the gateway.
- Session
- A single connection made through the gateway. Start and end time, client IP address, and transferred bytes are recorded.
Article 3 (What the service does)
The Service relays traffic so that you can reach your own Mac from an outside network without a VPN, port forwarding, or a static IP address. The connecting side uses the remote desktop client built into its operating system, or Microsoft Windows App; no additional client software is required.
The gateway does not replace authentication to your Mac. Signing in to the Mac still uses that Mac's account credentials and Network Level Authentication; gateway authentication is a separate lock placed in front of it.
What the Company can see: your account email, device names, the IP address and time of a connection, and the number of bytes transferred.
What the Company cannot see: the remote screen, keyboard and mouse input, the clipboard, transferred files, or your Mac password. Encryption for that traffic (TLS/NLA) terminates at the connecting device and at your Mac, so the gateway only moves ciphertext and is technically unable to read it.
The Service uses TCP transport only; UDP transport (port 3391) is not offered. Sessions that pass through the gateway prefer the H.264 (AVC420) codec for bandwidth efficiency.
Article 4 (What is free)
Access over the same network (LAN) or over a VPN you configured yourself is free forever, regardless of plan. It requires no gateway account, payment, licence key, or activation.
The Company does not later charge for or lock app features that were already provided free of charge. Payment covers only gateway relaying, where the Company pays for servers and traffic.
The Free plan also includes gateway access for one Mac at no charge (Article 8).
Article 5 (Accounts and sign-in)
An account is created with an email address. The Company stores no password: you sign in with a six-digit code sent by email, valid for 10 minutes with a maximum of five attempts. A successful sign-in issues a session cookie that lasts 30 days.
You must keep your email account and sign-in codes from third parties; you are responsible for the consequences of failing to do so. If you suspect your account has been misused, check the connection history (time, IP, device) in the dashboard and tell us at [email protected] immediately.
You can delete your account at any time from the dashboard. Deleting the account immediately deletes registered devices and connection history, and deleted data cannot be recovered. Settlement of any remaining paid period follows the Refund and Cancellation Policy.
Article 6 (Devices and limits)
You register a Mac by signing in from the Mintdesk settings on that Mac and giving it a name. The Mac receives a device token stored in its Keychain; the Company keeps only a hash of that token.
The number of devices you may register at once depends on your plan (Article 8). Registration beyond the limit is refused; remove an existing device or upgrade to continue. Renaming and unregistering are possible both in the Mac's settings and in the dashboard.
Device names are resolved only within the authenticated account. There is no way to reach a device belonging to another account.
Article 7 (Gateway credentials)
The Company generates the gateway credential password as a random 20-character value and shows it only once. You cannot choose your own password: the authentication method required by remote desktop clients (NTLM) cannot store a user-chosen password safely.
If you lose the displayed password, reissue it in the dashboard. Reissuing invalidates the previous credential immediately, so you must update any saved client connections.
The credential is for you and for people you authorise. Publishing, selling, or redistributing it is prohibited (Article 10).
Article 8 (Pricing and service period)
| Plan | Macs via gateway | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 1 | ₩0 |
| Personal | 5 | ₩29,000/year (₩3,900/month) |
| Business | Per Mac | ₩30,000 per Mac per year · opened on request |
All prices include Korean value-added tax. There is no metered traffic billing, no feature locking, and no lifetime licence; the only billing axis is the number of Macs.
The service period starts when payment completes and ends when the chosen term (one year or one month) expires. After expiry the device limit returns to the Free plan level; registered devices and connection history are not deleted.
There is no automatic renewal. The Company does not store your payment method and charge it again each term. Renewal is a payment you make yourself each time, and we email you as the period approaches its end. If recurring billing is introduced later, it will apply only to users who have separately agreed to it in advance.
Payments are processed by a Korean payment provider (Toss Payments); the Company does not hold card numbers or other payment instrument data. Tax invoices are issued for the Business plan.
Article 9 (Withdrawal and refunds)
Under Article 17 of the Korean Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, you may withdraw your purchase within seven days of payment. Paragraph 2 of the same Article allows that right to be restricted once the supply of a digital service has begun.
The Company does not apply that restriction as written. Where payment was made within the last seven days and no gateway session has occurred, we refund the full amount. In every other case we refund the remaining period pro rata by day. The exact criteria, procedure, and processing time are in the Refund and Cancellation Policy.
Article 10 (Your obligations)
You must not:
- disclose, lend, sell, or widely share your gateway credential, device token, or sign-in codes;
- attempt to use the gateway as a general-purpose proxy, including directing connections to hosts or ports not registered to your authenticated account;
- access or attempt to access another person's account or devices, or circumvent authentication, blocking, or usage accounting;
- create accounts in bulk or repeat authentication attempts with automated tools;
- generate traffic abnormal enough to disturb operation of the Service, or use relay bandwidth for purposes unrelated to remote access;
- use the Service to break the law or infringe the rights of others;
- resell the Service or bundle it into your own service without the Company's prior consent (exceptions may be agreed under the Business plan).
You must hold proper authority over any Mac you register, and you remain responsible for the data on it and for what is done through it.
Article 11 (Usage limits and blocking)
The Company operates automated abuse controls. The thresholds below may be adjusted in response to attacks.
| Situation | Measure |
|---|---|
| Gateway authentication failures (same IP) | More than 10 in 10 minutes: blocked for 15 minutes; repeats double the block up to 24 hours |
| Gateway authentication failures (same account) | More than 20 in one hour: account locked and an email sent |
| Bulk account creation | Five accounts per IP address per day |
| Excessive connection attempts | 30 new connections per minute and 20 concurrent connections per IP address |
| Free plan above 20 GB per month | Not blocked; throttled to 1 Mbit/s |
The Company may restrict use after notice where Article 10 has been breached. Where other users or system stability are affected immediately, the restriction may be applied first and the reason given without delay. You may object to [email protected] within 30 days of the notice, and the Company will lift the restriction at once if the objection is well founded.
Settlement for periods during which a restriction prevented use follows the Refund and Cancellation Policy.
Article 12 (Changes, maintenance, interruption)
The Company deploys software regularly to keep the Service stable. A deployment may interrupt sessions in progress; clients simply reconnect. Such work is carried out during the early hours, Korean time, when usage is lowest.
The Service may be interrupted by events outside the Company's control, such as natural disasters, power failures, carrier network faults, data centre incidents, or denial-of-service attacks. The Company will publish the cause and expected recovery time as soon as they are known.
If the Company discontinues the Service, it will give notice by email and on the website at least 30 days in advance and refund the amount corresponding to any remaining service period.
Article 13 (Limitation of liability)
The Service only relays traffic and stores none of your data. The Company is not responsible for loss of or damage to data on your Mac, or for the outcome of work you perform over a remote connection.
The Company is not responsible for degraded connection quality caused by factors it does not supply, such as internet line quality, your network environment, or the behaviour of the remote desktop client on the connecting device.
Except in cases of the Company's intent or gross negligence, and to the extent permitted by applicable law, the Company's liability for damages is limited to the amount you actually paid for the Service during the preceding 12 months. For parts supplied free of charge, including the Free plan, the Company is liable only in cases of intent or gross negligence.
Nothing in this Article limits the rights you have as a consumer under applicable law.
Compensation for an outage attributable to the Company that lasts more than 24 hours continuously is set out in the Refund and Cancellation Policy.
Article 14 (Personal data)
The Company processes the minimum data needed to provide the Service: account email, device names, and the IP address, time, and byte count of connections. The remote screen, input, files, and clipboard cannot be read, as described in Article 3.
Purposes, retention periods, processors, and how to exercise your rights are set out in the Privacy Policy.
Article 15 (Amendments)
The Company may amend these terms within the limits of applicable law. When it does, it will publish the effective date and the changes on the website at least seven days before that date, and will also email account holders.
If you do not accept an amendment you may stop using the Service and terminate before the effective date; refunds for the remaining period follow the Refund and Cancellation Policy. Continuing to use the Service after the effective date is taken as acceptance.
Article 16 (Governing law and jurisdiction)
These terms and use of the Service are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea.
The Company and the user will try in good faith to resolve any dispute. If a lawsuit is filed, jurisdiction follows the Korean Civil Procedure Act; absent other agreement, the competent court is the one with jurisdiction over the Company's place of business.
